Greenhouse gases explained
You can be part of the solution by taking some simple steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Click on the links below the image to find out more about cutting greenhouse gas emissions on your farm.

1. Reduce GHG emissions from farm buildings
2. Reduce livestock methane emissions
3. Lock up green house gases in soil and vegetation
4. Reduce GHG emissions from farm machinery
5. Help lock up green house gases in your land
6. Reduce GHG emissions from crop production
7. Produce renewable energy from your farm
CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2) is released by burning fossil fuels (e.g. from tractors, farm vehicles, machinery and heating of buildings) and during changes in land use and deforestation.
METHANE (CH4) has around 25 times the warming potential of CO2 and is released from natural livestock emissions and manure.
NITROUS OXIDE (N2O) has around 296 times the warming potential of CO2 and is released from the manufacture and use of synthetic fertiliser, breakdown of organic residues in the soil, and soil disturbance.
